Baldy Butte |
more info |
| |
Baldy Butte is the highest point along the Umtanum Ridge. The Butte is a privately-owned site available to members of NWPC through a site use agreement. The site works well with most wind directions. XC potential is best on light and variable days or light S/SW winds. This can be a very active site with strong mid-day conditions. The site also offers very nice ridge soaring when the wind is northerly or easterly. |

Blanchard |
more info |
| |
Blanchard Hill, located at the north end of the Skagit valley, is an excellent site for P-2 + pilots. Overlooking Samish Bay, the view from the west launch includes the San Juan and Gulf islands. Moving to the south launch two hundred feet away, completes the panorama from the blue waters of the San Juan Islands to the ever-changing patchwork quilt of farmland tucking in the northern Skagit Valley. Blanchard Hill is the head poking out of the quilt. It's a great area to explore in the unlikely event you are unable to launch. There may not be a more relaxing place to fly. |

Chelan Butte is perhaps the premier thermal site in Washington and has been the location of several National and International level Paragliding and Hang Gliding competitions. Rampart |

An extremely scenic mountain site with areas that produce both thermal and mechanical lift. If conditions are right you can soar the rock cliffs behind and to the north of launch. Once over the cliffs you'll have views of several small mountain lakes, Snoqualmie Pass, and Mt. Rainier. |

Saddle |
more info |
| |
Saddle Mountain is a ridge and thermal site located in Mattawa, WA 10 miles east of the I-90 Columbia River Bridge. Saddle faces NE, and works as a ridge soaring site in North, North East conditions. This makes it a great, although cold winter site during high pressure. The LZ is a 10 mile square sandy river bed making Saddle great for beginners. |

Tiger Mountain |
more info |
| |
Tiger Mountain is a beautiful place to fly. Extensive work has been done on both the north and south launch: trees have been cleared, grass planted, bathrooms installed, and the north launch has a strip of turf. It's a nice site. Tiger is flyable with winds from the south, west and, preferably, the north. During the peak season Tiger Mt. provides enough lift for beginner pilots, 1-50 flights, to enjoy hour long flights. More advanced pilots will find themselves flying for several hours. |

Whidbey Island |
more info |
| |
A site that takes significant "investment" in time and patience, but well
worth it when it works. Often a fantastic kiting site if nothing else, and always pleasant to visit. Soarable conditions mean easy boating around and numerous top landings, but soaring the coast line, 100 ft. above the top of the ridge is possible for a few miles in either direction. |
