- LZ Elevation: top land
- Best Time to Fly: Spring, Evenings
  description
A site that takes significant "investment" in time and patience, but well
worth it when it works. Often a fantastic kiting site if nothing else, and always pleasant to visit. Soarable conditions mean easy boating around and numerous toplandings, but soaring the coast line, 100 ft above the top of the ridge is possible for a few miles in either direction.
  site protocol
NO launching from the protected cliffs to the south of the Fort Ebey area. No launching (or landing?) at Ebey's Landing. Be very cautious of being blown back in strong conditions, strict adherance to ridge rules with traffic. Watch the "snag" dead tree just to the north of the launch, be very cautious of landing on the beach at high tide, and please don't hike back straight up the bluffs (erosion), but use the "trail" to the south of launch.
  soaring
Laminar wind from the west works best, great ridge soaring. XC to the North/South along the coast line.
  directions to the LZ
  Currently a top-landing only site.
  directions to launch
Take I-5 N to the Mukilteo/Whidbey Island Ferry exit. Follow the signs to the Widbey Island ferry. It leaves at the top and bottom of every hour and a one way ticket is $6. Leaving the ferry puts you onto the main road (525). Stay on this road for about 30 miles. You'll pass Ebey's landing, go through Coupeville, and then you'll see a brown highway sign showing Ft. Ebey at the next left. Follow this up a couple blocks until you see a smaller brown sign showing Ft. Ebey again on the left. Follow this road and the markings to the gun turrents. Be sure to pay the parking fee. Camping available.
